Pressure to Be the Perfect Mom

Do you feel the pressure of being the perfect mom? You know those perfect moms: they’ve lost all the baby weight and are teeny tiny just days after delivery; no stretch marks; girl looks like she has not had a baby at all. Or perfect moms like Carol Brady, raising her six kids with patience and a cheerful air of total domestic fulfillment.

We all know this is not reality, yet why do we feel guilty or a sense of shame if we are not that ideal perfect mom?

Almost two years after having my daughter I looked in my closet and realized I needed to stop torturing myself and trying to fit into my teeny tiny “before baby” jeans. I sold them on Craigslist. Immediately I bought a pair that fit and feel comfortable. No more thigh creases.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying give up on yourself but remember most of us do not have trainers and chefs. I am able to squeeze in a two mile run in the morning with my dogs but not the hours at the gym that I could before.  Now that I have learned to love my ‘underbutt’ I am a lot happier. I just wear clothes that hide it.

Now back to Carol Brady, how did she Balance her six kids and her husband?  This is something I am still struggling with…. How do you find time for kids, husband and then yourself?
