What a pleasure it is to speak to our alumni! Erin is in the process of applying to an Occupational Therapy program. Erin came to Portland to attend EastWestCollege of the Healing Arts from Minnesota and started school in 1999. She was interested in Occupational Therapy then and now it seems like a natural step to enter into the OC field.
Erin has had a private practice for nine years. She had worked at the Immune Enhancement Program in Portland and found that experience very interesting. She worked with a woman who had MS and learned how to help her out of her chair, to the Shiatsu mat and through that experience became interested in working on people that need affordable massage. Erin recently has worked a bit for a Community Clinic and has been impressed with the way this business provides massage at a reasonable price. She feels that massage should be attainable hand is considering creating an "economic stimulus" rate for her own private practice.
Erin’s upbeat conversation really impressed me today. She was also happy to share with me what she has been doing in the bodywork field over the last decade. She knows that the massage training will be a big plus in her new endeavor into OC, as the program recommended that entrants get some kind of bodywork training prior to entering the program. I wish the best to Erin and just wanted to share this uplifting conversation with all the great people at balance pdx.com.
