ARE YOU CAUGHT IN THE WEB?

It’s an odd question for an online magazine to ask, but do you ever feel guilt for spending way too much time on the Internet? Personally, I spend most my day in front of the computer, but it’s kinda my job. When you’re online, are you being productive or are your eyes glazing over at the 1,000,000th you tube video? Whether you work at home or just like the warm feeling of a notebook computer in your lap, there are ways you can get more from the time you spend online. Think about all the time you spend waiting for a page to load up, a song to download. Here’s a great list from Balance readers on what quick productive things you can do while you’re on the computer uploading photos to your Facebook page:

I sit in front of my computer and type to all of you.
Find fun local activities you and your kids can do (whenever you can tear yourself away from the computer).
Find fun, romantic things for you and your partner to do (that, once again, do not involve the computer).
I make sure that whatever meat we are having for dinner is being thawed in a timely process.
I do stress level exercises. (light weights – only 25lbs)
I laugh at some of the crazy things that I read.
I get annoyed at some of the comments by people that have nothing to share, but enjoy harassing people.
I report people for acting like an annoying A$$. (Yea, I guess that I’m sick of the “jerks”. Oh well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I start laundry and rotate when needed.
I converse with family and friends on the phone. (I do this a lot)
I research projects that I am working on.
I rock music as loud as I can w/o blowing my speakers.
I check to see if there are sound vibrations at the neighbor’s house. (I get a kick out of that)
I listen to talk radio when I’m bored with music.
I call customers that still owe me money from last year. (Yes, it is a large chunk of change)
I ponder about the sad comments made, and I feel their pain.
I think about my family and hope that all is well.
I communicate via email w/ a variety of people.
I groom myself to the best of my ability.
I feed and water the pets. (Ripley, 2 cats, fish, 6 frogs)
I feed and water myself.
I try to convince Bob to move to Indiana.
I fold the laundry when it is finished.
I start dinner.
I talk people through how to fix something that is broken.
I get my tax information together.
I create videos to share w/ anyone that is willing to watch.
I methodically rung ideas through my brain, and strain out the excess.
I send seductive texts to my husband and make her both blush and angry at times.
I send flowers for no apparent reason. I enjoy the “shock effect”.
I pay bills electronically.

How about you, how do you make the most of your time on the Internet?
