Beat Bloat: Avoid these 8 Foods

Salt
Salt doesn’t just come out of the shaker. Everywhere you look there is salt: in seasonings, processed foods, etc. In high amounts, salt will cause you to retain more water which not only creates bloat but leaves you feeling sluggish.

Raw Foods
A ½ cup of cooked carrots delivers the same nutrition as a cup of the raw stuff, but won’t take up as much room in your GI tract. Dried fruits are another good option.

Gassy Foods
They include legumes, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, onions, peppers, and citrus fruits. And let’s leave it at that.

Acidic Drinks
Coffee, alcohol and soda should all be taken in moderation. Too much of these can irritate your GI tract and cause swelling.

Fried Foods
We don’t have to tell you about the usual cons of eating fried stuff. But on top of their lack of healthiness, they also take more time to digest as they sit in your gut and make you feel heavy and bloated.

Spicy Foods
Boy, it sure seems like we’re trying to take all; the fun foods away. Remember, no one is saying you should deny yourself these foods, just keep the consumption in check. In the case of spicy foods, all that spice can stimulate the release of more stomach acid which irritates and bloats the stomach.

Carbonated Drinks
Where do all the bubbles go? To your stomach, of course.

Gum
Wait, gum? What did harmless old gum do wrong? Well believe it or not, as you chew gum you inhale massive amounts of air which actually get trapped in your stomach causing pressure and expansion.
