Getting ready to sweeten up that morning coffee? What do ya prefer? Flavored creamer? The Yellow stuff? The Pink or Blue? Sadly none of this stuff is particularly good for you. The chemicals in those artificial sweeteners, well they’re chemicals and how many more chemicals do we need to pump in our bodies? Those flavored creamers get their sugary taste not from sugar, but corn syrup which isn’t great either (not to mention it’s in everything). Also, despite what you’ve heard, Agave Syrup is bad news. Sorry, we liked it too until we did the research.
“Okay,” you say, “I’ll just drop in a couple sugar packets.” But don’t you hate how granulated sugar doesn’t dissolves as well as that other stuff and then you end up with a not-so-sweet coffee that hits you with a big wallop of sugary sludge at the bottom
Well we found the perfect solution: Simple Syrup. What’s Simple Syrup, you say? It’s just cane sugar in liquid form and you can make it yourself. Seriously, it’s the world’s simplest recipe (thus the name “simple syrup”).
Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar
1 cup water
Toss both in a saucepan and bring to slight boiling, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it cool then pour into a squeeze bottle and you’re good is gold.
Seriously, try it; we love the stuff. Use it to sweeten whatever you’d add that artificial stuff or sugar packets to: tea, etc. Who knew sugar could be so good for you?
